Crystals and Minerals

Crystals and minerals have a deep meaning in new age metaphysics. It is less about their looks and more about their mystical powers. Crystals and minerals help to cleanse and heighten one’s chakras.

Crystals and minerals have a deep meaning in new age metaphysics. It is less about their looks and more about their mystical powers. Crystals and minerals help to cleanse and heighten one’s chakras. In particular, Smoky quartz is a powerful cleanser and protector of the root chakra. So too, are agate (fire agate), black tourmaline, bloodstone, hematite, and tigers eye.  Coral, citrine, carnelian, and moonstone are all powerful cleansers and protectors of the sacral chakra. Next, calcite (orange), citrine, malachite, and topaz are major protectors of the solar chakra. Working our way up the spine we arrive at the heart chakra where rose quartz, jade, green tourmaline, green calcite are valued for their protection. Still, further up the spine is the throat chakra where aquamarine, lapis lazuli, and turquoise provide protection and cleansing. Next, we arrive at the mystical third eye. It is at this part of the body where amethyst, black obsidian, and purple flourite provide protection. The seventh, and final chakra is the crown chakra. Here again amethyst can be used to cleanse this chakra. As can pure quartz, selenite and diamond.

Keep in mind that there is not a mineral that is a “one size fits all” mineral. If you are in a metaphysical shop and are drawn to a particular crystal not simply because you find that it is beautiful but, that it communicates to you that your life will be much better off with it spiritually and psychically, then that is the stone for you. Also, remember to “bathe” your crystal often. Whether it be in sunlight, moonlight, water (especially salt water), or in earth (soil) just make sure to recharge it often. Try also, when bathing your crystal, to keep it out of commonly occupied (by humans) things such as your house or car. They tend to find balance out in the open and are less susceptible to negative energies.
